projective connection

"Personal connections happen when readers link their own knowledge, understandings, and experiences with what they read - and use this linking to construct meaning." (Owocki, G., 2003, p. 23)

Working Definition

Projective connections are those connections in which the reader takes something from their own experience or prior knowledge and associates it with the text. This is one method of generating predictions, but not all projective connections lead to predictions.
