Another poem from the book MOXIE DAY and Family!

Picture Day

My parents thought I should look nice. They dressed me in a gown.
But in a dress I get depressed, so all I did was frown.

                         FLASH

Mom thought a snack might make me smile. I had I lemon sucker.
When I was done my dad said, "Smile," all I could do was pucker.

                         FLASH

Then they said to have a seat in the comfy chair.
On the way I scuffed my feet for spiky static hair.

                         FLASH

I'd tried for years with no success, so imagine my surprise,
when my father snapped the shot I learned to cross my eyes!

                         FLASH

My father said, "Get this one right, or else I'll have you hung."
I thought the picture would look best if I stuck out my tongue.

                         FLASH

When I made those faces, I meant it as a joke,
but now my father's really mad because the camera's broke.
